[Anyone hanging around the spring area better not be standing too close, least they get splashed on. The individual that falls out of the air and into the water looked like they had been plucked from their world in the middle of a nap… or a drunken coma, as the case may be. They certainly woke up once they hit the water though, coughing and sputtering in utter confusion as they struggled to shore.]

[The person clung to the edge of the spring once he got to it, staring around blearily, as if he didn't really know what he was looking at. Finally, he ran a hand over his face as a green dragonfly fluttered down to hover around his head.]

…if Dojima-san was looking for a new way to wake me up, he sure went overboard…

[Later on, said person appears on the orbs, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. He looks really frumpy and slouched over, not to mention completely soaked.]

M-man, and here I was worried about waking up with a hang over. I guess I should have been more worried about random splash downs.

[He pauses for a moment, trying to regain some of his dignity (not that there was much there to begin with).]

Adachi Tohru, Inaba PD. Er… anyone mind filling me in on what's going on here?

[And the expression on her face makes it clear she wishes he wasn't.]

[And now Adachi looks like you just murdered a puppy in front of him.]

I… I just…

[It takes him a moment to snap out of it, a hand going to his head.]

He hasn't killed anyone, has he?

[Naoto's expression snaps from the sad look to business mode. Now's not the time to be wishing for things that weren't going to happen.] Not yet, but he's attempted it twice. Luckily, however, both of the intended victims were Persona-users and able to fight him off.

Arisato-san and I have discussed capturing and detaining him so that he won't cause trouble like that again. The issue, however, is finding him.

[He could be all business too, like he was now; probably a shocking difference, considering what she would be used to. Adachi could only imagine; he never met any of his alternates, he just knew he was the lucky one, depending on your viewpoint.]

Good to know there are other people with Personas around. Capturing him... that won't be easy, and I don't think it'd be a good idea.

[He paused a moment, letting out a breath. He couldn't believe he was going through this again... not after...]

He only had a chance to use his Persona once before, but he's ridiculously amazing at adapting. If he's already used it here... well, next time he'll be ten times better. We'd probably have better luck controlling the damage he does and where then outright detaining him.

As for finding him... we won't be found unless he wants to be. Now that he knows who can fight against him.

[It's startling. Quite startling.

But honestly, she could get used to this.] I see... Thank you, then. Arisato-san won't be pleased to hear that... Hopefully Souzen-san won't attempt anything for a while. [She sighs. There's a long pause before she speaks again.]

I'll admit, I'm curious as to how else the case differed from my world to yours.

[Adachi fell quiet at that. He had to say he was curious, but...]

...yeah, I... kinda know that...

[He paused a moment, frowning to himself.]

I rather talk about this in person, honestly.

... Stay where you are, then. I'll be there soon.

[And then the feed cuts off.]

...right.

[By the time Naoto gets there, Adachi's slung off his jacket, letting it dry hang on a branch above him. He is pacing underneath it, looking like he's mentally worlds away from there.]

[She stands and watches him for a short while, her eyes following his pacing.

When she does approach, it's with a nod in greeting.] Adachi-san.

[He stopped and turned toward her, a bit of a lopsided smile on his face. It actually looked genuine too, if a bit forced.]

Naoto-kun.

[He went over to her, looking like he'd pounce on her and hug her, but he managed to resist the urge. Instead, he let out an awkward noise, rubbing at the back of his neck.]

...ahh... is that too personable? Not sure... I mean, you're practically the same 'Naoto-kun' I know...

...man, this is awkward.

[She considers it for a moment and then shrugs.]

If you are accustomed to using "Naoto-kun", I don't mind.

[He still looked a bit sheepish, but there was clear gratitude on his face.]

Well, Naoto-kun, I'll tell you what I can, if you want to start askin' questions. Just...

[Adachi let his expression drop, and... there was clear pain on his face.]

...I can't believe he's here. He's alive. I just... I just saw him executed the other day.

[His voice hushed, like he couldn't really say what happened out loud yet. Who would be able to anyway? He just watched a kid, not even an adult, get a needle in his arm, and then just... go off, like he was falling asleep. It was the most disturbing and heartbreaking thing he had ever had to deal with.]

[At those last words, Naoto's expression turns pained as well.

Someone who looked physically identical to the upperclassman, the leader she looked up to, being executed... She wants to wrap her head around the idea but at the same time, she can't bear to. She knows how executions go. She can visualize it.

And she really doesn't want to.

But now isn't the time to wallow in emotions and thoughts like that. She shakes her head, as if trying to disperse the image from her mind and her expression sharpens again.]

How many victims? And who were they?

[Adachi hesitated, and with good reason. This was still Naoto-kun; not his Naoto-kun, but still the level headed ace detective he knew. He couldn't help but feel a little protective of her; her brains had saved them more than once, and… he respected her. That was why, despite how much he didn't want to tell her, he wasn 't going to lie to her either.]

[When he finally answered, his voice came out sounding completely detatched.]

He confessed to seven counts of murder. Starting from the earliest, the victims were Satonaka Chie, Hanamura Yosuke, Konishi Naoki, Ebihara Ai, Kinshiro Morooka, Minami Eri, and Nakajima Shu. This is in addition to three counts of attempted murder, as well as his admitted manipulation of another person to commit murder.

[Naoto would claim she wouldn't need any protection, but nothing in any of the worlds could have prepared her for what Adachi says. For a moment, her shock gets the best of her.] Seven-- [She clamps a hand over her own mouth to prevent another outburst.

Her face falls even further as Adachi lists the victims. Chie, Yosuke... She didn't know the other names quite as well, but the first two... Well, Adachi would probably notice those were the two that got to her the most.

It's just so wrong. She inhales sharply, and when she speaks, her voice is just barely unsteady. Wavering.] I... I see.

[... Okay, give her a moment, she needs to process this in its entirety.]

[You understand now why he didn't want to say this over some kind of network, no matter how magical and mystical it was?]

[Adachi's expression was entirely sympathetic; he could understand how she felt. It hadn't been easy for any of them, knowing that the murderer would face the most severe kind of justice for his many crimes, only to find out it was someone close to home. After all, Rise had dated him, he was Dojima's nephew, and... Adachi had a bond with him. It had been an unusual bond at first, one that he didn't gain anything from, but he found he didn't care. He liked Seito's company...]

[...and now...]

[He let out a faint sound, before reaching over and giving her that hug. She needed it, dammit, awkward or not.]

[She inhales softly, tensing for a moment as she's hugged, but soon, she relaxes and returns the hug.

She definitely needs it.

She tries to keep her mind blank. She doesn't want the mental images that would come from inadvertently letting her imagination run with the information she was just given.]

[Adachi let a hand rub at her back once he felt her hugging him back, trying to be as comforting as he could.]

...I can't imagine how weird this is for you, but... I've got your back, all right?

... All right. Thank you, Adachi-san. And... as strange as it feels to say it, I have yours.

[He grinned.]

I'll try now to weird you out too much.
