[Visual] Arcana IV - memento mori (it's still the 5th somewhere)

[March fifth. Graduation Day.

Minato has been scarce since the start of the month, even more quiet and withdrawn than normal. It isn't really characteristic of him, since he's usually on the go, always doing something. Finally he's been missing all day on March fifth.

The last day of his life.

With everything that's happened, he can't escape thinking about it. He's never been very good at dealing with his own troubles. He tends to shut down when he can't escape.

It's late at night, and the video opens to his cobalt blue dragonfly making distinctly worried kazoo noises. The last time this dragonfly made a video, Minato was sick and passed out in the woods. This time when it gets its jeweled eyes out of the way, Minato can be seen awake, but staring blankly at the sky. It's still cold, and he's underdressed for the snow he's laying in. He's been like this for a while if the dragonfly is resorting to using the orbs.]

[Visual] Link 5

[The orb comes to life and displays several curious Pokemon looking it over; an Eevee, Leafeon, and Litwick. It shifts constantly and they chatter among one another while trying to see what was being shown. A loud "Pika!" cuts through them and suddenly it's a Pikachu that is being shown. The Electric mouse carries to orb over to an armored leg and hands to the orb to the owner.

It's Enzan. Completely decked out in gold, red, white, silver, and black armor.]

Hello everyone. It looks like I came back after all.

[There's a bigger figure towering over Enzan but it's difficult to see what it was.]

[Voice] Arcana III - so much to lose

[Minato couldn't not notice, this time. He'd thought at first that he might be wrong, but well... A few days and no contact can only mean one thing, can't it? The message comes late at night, and is brief. His voice is level and calm, but trained ears could tell it's only barely so.]

...I know not many of us were close to them, but I figured it's worth knowing: Marie, my housemate, seems to be gone. I'm pretty sure Shirogane Naoto is, too.

[He shuts it off quickly. Two of his closest friends here, vanished. He doesn't know if they went home or what. He's...never really thought about where the people who are no longer in Avalar may have gone. Home? Some other world? He can't help but be sad about it, no matter what the case may be. It hurts.]

[Accidental Visual] Link 4

[Enzan's back is turned to the orb and he appears to be lying on his side. His dragonfly is perched on his shoulder, making occasional noises from time to time. There's the sound of a loud sigh and the warlord shifts a little.

He seems tired.]

2nd Flight | Accidental Visual

[The feed clicks on to see Pit reading a book, or at least trying to read it. After a few minutes, he looks to see that the orb is on.]

Hey there. Looks like I left the orb on. To those who don't know me, My name's Pit, servant of the goddess Palutena.

[He then goes back to reading his book, but after a few moments he gives up with a frustrated sigh.]

Okay, since I'm not making any progress on my own, I'll just swallow my pride and ask. Could a kind, patient soul out there possibly find it in their hearts to teach this poor angel how to read? [All said with the best puppy dog eyes he can make.] Okay go ahead with the illiterate angel jokes.

PROLOGUE | [visual]

Whoa! I thing I finally got a hang of this thing!

[There's a kid who's clearly soaked from taking an unexpected dive into the lake. He doesn't seem bothered though while walking clearly barefoot, with his wet shoes and socks in his free hand.]

This is how I get in touch with people right? So who wants to join my entourage to take a quick tour around the place?

...oh wait. I don't have any cash on me right now, but I can pay in candybars!

[Visual] Arcana II - The living seem rather...well, dead

[The first thing to come over the feed is a blurry mix of blue and green, accompanied by loud buzzing and squeaking.

No, the orbternet isn't broken. Things soon settle a bit, and there's a very blue dragonfly poking its face up to the orb. It can be recognized as Minato's dragonfly, and it's buzzing frantically as it tries to get attention.

It should be concerning enough that Minato's dragonfly - lazy and chill and content to ride on his head everywhere - is trying to do anything. And very adamantly, at that! It shifts the orb, showing Minato--

He's laying on the ground, unmoving. Dragonfly is not skilled or calm or trying hard enough to get a decent look at him, but when the 'fly flits over and flies into him a few times, he doesn't respond. The 'fly comes back to the orb, buzzing again. Help, his human isn't responding!]

[No funny hairdos here- not out of the unusual, anyway. The visual opens up with Red looking off briefly, but then his attention's on the gem and he's lifting up a hand in welcome.]

What's up, everyone? 'Sploring this place's been fun. You know, even if with the ghosts and all. Keeps you on your toes, haha. [But he pauses the amusement.] Nobody's been hurt though, right?

Gotta admit, some of it's been spooking me. They're good at what they do! But I've been worrying about something else. Not all of us hang around in Idol Springs, but this thing showed up ages ago, back when the pumpkins came? It's- well.

[The visual shifts, and now instead of one brown-haired boy is a completely oversized pumpkin. Creepy feels coming off over the gemstone may or may not been included.]

It's a pumpkin. Too. 'Cept- there's something weird about it. Not just its size, just. Something else? I can't tell you what, but even my snorlax's not been wanting to go near it. Or, he's not tried to; not that he doesn't know not to eat just anything, but. [Eh.] I've been seeing funny stuff around it too... couldn't find anything, though.

[The visual focuses a while longer on the pumpkin before Red turns it back to him, giving a 'oh well i don't know' face.]

Has anyone else seen anything like it anywhere else? I've been keeping an eye out and haven't, but you never know.

Well, I think I had some other stuff to say, but I've probably kept you all long enough. [He tilts his head, then smiles.] See ya.

[visual] talking kangaroos with australian accents

Heya there, ladies and gents! I still hear plenty of you are coming through from all corners of wherever it is you're from. It's a shame; you'd think having this magic problem once would be enough, but here we are again!

I heard too everywhere's getting pesky ghosts causing trouble - they're even up where I live! Seen some of you've got a shocking hairdo out of it, but you're not the only ones. Even the goats here have turned a shade of pink. Usually they're always be getting into some kind of trouble, but they're swearing to me up and down they didn't do anything this time, and I think I can believe them.

You should all watch where you're going. I'd tell you to give any meddlers a swift kick, but that's harder to do when what you're dealing with doesn't have much to kick. So I say to just be on the look out for anything odd - or odder than usual. Buckets in doorways or up in the air, that sort of stuff!

Anyway, don't think I can give you much more than that. The name's Sheila though. I'd say to come visit the alps where I live, but unless you can keep your feet steady, now's probably not a good time!

[When the image comes on, Enzan is shown with an "I am not amused" expression, though there is a tinge of "What did I do to warrant this?" The reason being that someone (aka The ghosts) decided to dye his hair hot pink and turn his face into their own personal doodling page. They even drew a mustache for him.]

1st Flight | Video

[The feed clicks on to the shore of Sunny Beach just as a splash is heard. A figure then rises from the water and shambles to the shore. The figure is revealed to be a young angel in a tunic and laurel crown. He falls to his knees coughing, his wings shaking off the water.]

Man, that was some trip. Where am I? I know the credits should be rolling after I beat Hades. [He then gets to his feet and looks around.] Lady Palutena? Viridi? Pittoo? Hades?!

[a beat]

Wait, I fried you with a giant laser. Besides, I wouldn't wanna talk to you anyway.

[Pit eventually finds the ring lying in the sand and picks it up.]

Hey there. I'm not sure if I'm using this right, but my name is Pit, Servant of Lady Palutena, the Goddess of Light. Speaking of which, has anyone seen her by the way? She's not answering my calls. She's tall, has long green hair, usually seen with a staff and mirror shield? If you see her, could you let me know? Also, where is this place?

video; once more, with feeling! and pumpkins! and...

[Hi, Avalar! Leaf's here today, and she is thankfully not anywhere near any power gates this time. One embarrassing moment is enough for her, thanks.

Instead, she's chilling out in Sunrise Springs. At least, judging by the amount of sunlight. Morning is such a nice time... She's also got a scarf (green, with brown accents), which she's wrapping and unwrapping around her free hand. Old habits die hard, and if she's not doing it with her hair she'll definitely be doing it with whatever loose clothing she can get her hands on.

...There's also a lot of pumpkins crowding around her. Actually, if one didn't know her, one'd probably assume she piled those up herself. Her chartreuse dragonfly settles itself on one of them, giving the hoard a suspicious look.]

I didn't see these growing before... [Not that she's an expert on plants, really, but seriously okay wouldn't you notice if a bunch of pumpkins were just growing around?? And moving closer to you oh yeah that's not weird at all nope.] Um... What do you all use pumpkins for? Mom and I used to make pumpkin pie, but I don't know if I can stomach as many pies as there are pumpkins.

[Video] more newbies dropping in!

[Well, newbie singular. Minako had been sleeping, or something like it, dreaming about shadows and personae and Tartarus, and she had been falling. Falling past all sorts of things. She didn't notice right away that she wasn't falling through darkness dream-world anymore, she was in fact falling through some sunny outdoorsy place...

And then she hit the water. Definitely awake now.]

[Instinct kicked in right away, and she swam to shore uneventfully. Confused and wet, but otherwise fine, she blinked blankly at the guidebook and orb she was cheerfully given. A look around, sitting on the shoreline, and she determined that she probably hadn't just found a new weird place in her psyche to visit. The inside of her mind was rarely so... forested.]

Never thought I'd be glad to fall asleep in my uniform... [Hey it was a long night in Tartarus okay?]

[She examines the stuff she's given as she finds a tree to drape her wet jacket and bow on. Her evoker was even still strapped on, so she shook that out and hung it up too. She was unclipping her hair and wringing it out when she figures out how to turn the Orb on.]

Oh gosh, is this how it works? Hello! Is anyone actually going to receive this? [She tilts it side to side, wet hair getting in her face.] I'm sorry I don't really know what I'm doing

[She looks more curious than apologetic, though.]

[The face that comes into focus on the orb is that of a teenage girl with brown eyes, matching hair, and a really big hat. You probably haven't seen her before, but she doesn't seem like a new arrival — she is quite dry, for one thing, and in the place an expression of panic or confusion is a casual grin. She waves cheerfully in greeting.]

Hey, everyone! Lovely weather today, huh? [She asks, as if there's ever not lovely weather in the Summer Forest.] I've been exploring a bit, and I've gotta say, this doesn't seem like a bad place at all! I could definitely get used to it. [It's not like she had a whole lot left to aspire to back home anyway.] Before I talk all your ears off, though, that brings me to my question! I've been wondering...

[She leans back, holding her arms behind her head, still smiling as if she hasn't a care in the world.]

What do you guys do for fun around here?

[Yeah, that's it. Really, she's used to just training with her Pokémon whenever she's got time to spare. ~~That or throwing away her hard-earned money at the Game Corner, but we don't talk about that.~~]

1st Summon | Video/Action

[Anyone hanging around the spring area better not be standing too close, least they get splashed on. The individual that falls out of the air and into the water looked like they had been plucked from their world in the middle of a nap… or a drunken coma, as the case may be. They certainly woke up once they hit the water though, coughing and sputtering in utter confusion as they struggled to shore.]

[The person clung to the edge of the spring once he got to it, staring around blearily, as if he didn't really know what he was looking at. Finally, he ran a hand over his face as a green dragonfly fluttered down to hover around his head.]

…if Dojima-san was looking for a new way to wake me up, he sure went overboard…

[Later on, said person appears on the orbs, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. He looks really frumpy and slouched over, not to mention completely soaked.]

M-man, and here I was worried about waking up with a hang over. I guess I should have been more worried about random splash downs.

[He pauses for a moment, trying to regain some of his dignity (not that there was much there to begin with).]

Adachi Tohru, Inaba PD. Er… anyone mind filling me in on what's going on here?

[visual] 1st loop - what the hell is this bug

[There's a very wet and very confused face looking on the orbternet. A red dragonfly matching her goggles is orbiting her head, and she's looking between it and something downward offscreen. There are some soft, irritated squeaks in the background.]

Quite a welcome... Hey! I'm Summer.

So...this book says this little guy- girl? ...This critter here [She indicates the dragonfly.] is a "dragonfly", but I've never heard of those before... Is it Dragon-type? Bug-type? I tried capturing it but it wouldn't stay put long enough.

Morning, everyone. [You are greeted by a groggy and somewhat displeased Red. The black-haired one, not the one that arrived yesterday.

Sans Pikachu, surprisingly.]

So, did anyone else nearly trip over one of these on their way out this morning? [At "these", he holds up a... trick-or-treating bucket?]

[ The face that shows up on this orb might look familiar for a second to some, red eyes and light skin with the facial shape similar to another resident of the world, but it's brown hair on this guy's head than black. That hair right now is currently being ruffled on one side, clearly damp. ]

So, that entrance! Portal in the air and landing in the lake is the norm? Someone should see about getting that moved, right? Seriously. [ He laughs, sounding far from bothered. He moves the towel to sit round his neck, a smile on his face. ]

I like the creatures though- dragonflies? He's- uh, she? It? [ he looks to his, hovering beside him ]-- well, they're cute. And everyone's got them floating them around? So it sounds like in the book.

[ he looks off-~~gem~~screen, probably at said book. ] It's a good thing they have those ready for you too, or I'd be confused about what's going on! Well. More than I am, but - jumping from one world to another's a pretty confusing thing. [ he shrugs. ] For me it is, anyway.

Well, whoever or whatever thinks I've got some way of helping them with their problem, so I guess I'm stuck here like the rest of you for now. [ he nods. ] The name's Red; I'm a Pokémon trainer. I've seen some Pokémon around here, so that means something to somebody else here, right?

[ There's nothing else he says after that. he's silent, looking up for a second, but looks back at the gem with a shrug of his shoulders, ]

Uh, well, that's all I've got. [ a laugh, followed by a grin. ] See you around, I guess? "Talk to you later"?

[When the image comes up, Enzan is shown sitting on the ground in Glimmer. Eevee and Pichu are no where to be seen, but Dratini is with him this time and sleeping with his head rested on his human partner's knee.]

[Video] ♪ 01 : FOOL ♪

I don't think being dropped into a lake is very much of a welcome.

[The speaker is currently soaked to the bone, apparently not having thought to go dry out before using the orb he's gotten. Thankfully, the clip in his hair is keeping most of it out of his face, drowned rat look or not, and his dragonfly is making odd little melodic tones behind him.]

So, I took a look through the Guidebook... and it seems I'm here for a specific reason. A "fixing of a magical drain" or something like that? Does anyone else have any more information on that? It's kind of vague, and I generally mucked about with cards more than anything.

[While it's true in multiple forms, Chou carefully omits the fact they were magical cards.]

...Also, somewhere I could dry off and maybe get a change of clothes would be nice too. At least until mine dry out.
